Pakistan cricketer Asif Ali confirmed his retirement from international cricket on Sunday through an emotional Instagram post. The 33-year-old who represented Pakistan in 21 ODIs and 58 T20Is described wearing the national jersey as the “greatest honour” of his life.

“Wearing the Pakistan jersey has been the greatest honour of my life and serving my country on the cricket field has been my proudest chapter,” he wrote.

He also recalled the personal tragedy of losing his daughter just before the 2019 World Cup crediting his family for giving him the strength to continue playing.
