PIA has confirmed that its last Paris–Lahore flight will depart on September 12, followed by the final Lahore–Paris flight on September 17. The decision, officials say, is linked to preparations for the airline’s upcoming UK operations, which require aircraft refurbishment. Islamabad–Paris flights will continue without disruption.
Lahore–Paris Route Ends After Brief Revival
The suspension marks another setback for the Lahore–Paris route, which was only revived on June 18, 2025, after a gap of years. The airline had reintroduced two weekly services, providing a direct link for Pakistani travelers and overseas communities in France. However, the shortage of wide-body aircraft has forced PIA to prioritize other international destinations.
A PIA spokesperson stated, “Islamabad–Paris operations remain fully functional. The Lahore–Paris flights are being suspended due to current fleet limitations, but this does not impact our connectivity with Europe.”
Aircraft Shortage Hits International Operations
According to sources, PIA’s fleet currently includes 12 Boeing 777 aircraft, out of which seven are grounded. The Boeing 777, often called the “Triple Seven,” is the backbone of the airline’s long-haul network, serving routes to Saudi Arabia, Paris, and Toronto.
The shortage has already impacted scheduling, as the airline prepares aircraft for its UK operations. Officials explained that refurbishing available planes was essential to meet regulatory requirements abroad, leaving fewer aircraft for other destinations.

Impact on Travelers and Industry
The suspension is expected to affect Pakistani travelers, overseas families in France, and the business community who frequently used the Lahore–Paris connection. Travel agents noted that many passengers will now be redirected to Islamabad, potentially adding to domestic travel burdens.
A senior aviation analyst told Sahaafii.com, “The Lahore–Paris route had strong demand, especially during peak travel months. This suspension highlights the broader challenges PIA faces with its aging fleet and limited resources.”
Looking Ahead
While PIA has not announced when the Lahore–Paris flights may resume, officials indicated the possibility of restoring services once fleet strength improves. For now, Islamabad will remain the primary hub for direct travel between Pakistan and Paris.
Travelers are advised to check updated schedules on the official PIA website and confirm bookings in advance to avoid disruptions.
