The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PMDC) has confirmed that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) 2025 will be held nationwide on October 5, 2025, at 10:00am.

According to the official notification, candidates must appear for the test only in the province of their domicile, a rule PMDC says will be strictly enforced to ensure fairness and transparency.

  • Registration Opens: August 8, 2025
  • Regular Deadline: August 25, 2025
  • Late Registration (with fee): September 1, 2025

Fee Structure:

  • Local candidates: Rs9,000 (regular), Rs13,000 (late)
  • Overseas candidates: Rs45,000 (regular), Rs55,000 (late)

The MDCAT 2025 will feature 180 multiple-choice questions (MCQs), with 15% of the paper set at a higher difficulty level to better assess students’ critical thinking skills.

Sindh Assigns MDCAT to IBA Sukkur

In a related development, the Sindh Cabinet has decided to hand over the responsibility of conducting MDCAT in the province to the Institute of Business Administration (IBA) Sukkur.

The move follows reports of irregularities in last year’s exam. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah said the decision aims to ensure fairness and transparency in medical and dental college admissions.

“This change will apply to both public and private institutions, with the Sindh Health Department overseeing the process,” the CM’s office stated.

Seats Available in Sindh

Official data shows:

  • Government Colleges: 2,550 MBBS seats, 500 BDS seats
  • Private Colleges: 1,441 MBBS seats, 2,025 BDS seats

IBA Sukkur will now oversee the examination process for all medical and dental admissions in Sindh starting this year.
