The 20-year-old British content creator made the announcement during a livestream hosted by YouTube philanthropist MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson) who was joined by streamers Adin Ross and xQc. Her commitment immediately placed her among the top donors supporting the campaign which is being run in collaboration with former NASA engineer and YouTuber Mark Rober.
$1 Million Pledge Live on Stream
Rain joined MrBeast’s livestream on Thursday evening and confirmed her intention to donate.
“I’ve been wanting to donate,” Rain said. “I want to give $1 million, and I’m 100% sure about it. This is an amazing cause, and I just want to support this because it’s awesome.”
The YouTuber appeared visibly shocked covering his face as he asked whether she was certain. Rain insisted that she was fully committed with her representatives now coordinating with the Team Water organizers to complete the transaction.

Her pledge comes just weeks after billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin contributed $2.25 million while Google, YouTube and Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke have also added multi-million dollar donations.
Team Water’s Global Goal
The #TeamWater initiative seeks to raise $40 million in August 2025 funding clean water systems in regions where safe drinking water remains scarce.
- Target: $40 million this month
- Raised so far: $29.3 million (as of Friday morning)
- MrBeast’s livestream contribution: $10+ million in pledges
- Influencers involved: Over 3,000 globally
According to campaign figures, each donated $1 provides a year of safe drinking water to one person. That message has helped the initiative attract both small donors and headline-making contributions like Rain’s.
From OnlyFans to Philanthropy
Sophie Rain originally from England and now based in Miami has become one of the most prominent creators on OnlyFans. By February 2025, she had reportedly earned over $50 million and more recent disclosures suggest her total earnings have already crossed $80 million.
With more than 500,000 paid subscribers on OnlyFans and a combined 20 million social media followers, Rain has turned her platform into a lucrative empire. Reports say her wealth has funded luxury cars, private jets and a $2.7 million farmhouse in the U.S.

Criticism of her adult content career followed her pledge but she responded on social media:
“Call it dirty money, but I still donated $1M more than you did. Thank you for the opportunity #TeamWater.”
Her representatives emphasized that the donation was motivated by a desire to “use her platform for something that counts.”
“Access to Clean Water Is a Basic Right”
In a prepared statement, Rain explained her motivation:
“Access to clean water is something we all take for granted, but to millions of others, it’s an ongoing struggle. This donation is my way of giving back in a way that has an immediate and tangible effect. Not everybody can donate a million dollars, and that’s okay. Even a little can change someone’s life.”
Her words echo the campaign’s wider message that collective giving whether $1 or $1 million has the power to change lives across the globe.
Celebrities and Corporations Join In
Rain’s $1 million pledge places her alongside a growing list of high-profile donors backing Team Water.
- Ken Griffin (Citadel CEO): $2.25 million
- Google & YouTube: $2 million matching fund
- Kick.com: $2 million
- Shopify CEO Tobias Lütke: $1.5 million

MrBeast has a track record of mobilizing global audiences for large-scale environmental campaigns. His earlier Team Seas initiative raised over $30 million to clean oceans. Team Water is positioned as the next major philanthropic push with broader corporate support.
Why It Matters
Globally, the UN estimates that 2.2 billion people lack access to safe drinking water. For South Asian audiences particularly in Pakistan where water scarcity remains an urgent issue such campaigns highlight how international philanthropy can raise awareness and mobilize resources for a universal problem.
Rain’s pledge despite the controversies surrounding her career has sparked debate on the role of wealthy influencers in global charity. For MrBeast’s campaign, however, the outcome is clear: another million dollars closer to clean water for those in need.
